How to cancel Restream and get a refund
By Jean Luc Poitier, SEO and growth marketing strategist · Restream Reviews · Updated October 5, 2026 · Sourced from Restream's help center and terms of service
Billing is the most common complaint in the Restream reviews we collected. Most of the one-star Trustpilot reviews describe being charged after cancelling, an annual plan that renewed without warning, or a refund that was refused. Here is how cancelling and refunds work according to Restream's own pages, and what to do so it doesn't happen to you.
Cancel Restream in four steps
From Restream's help article on cancelling (checked October 5, 2026):
- Open Settings and go to the Billing page.
- Click Cancel subscription.
- Choose a cancellation reason and add feedback if you like.
- Click Cancel Subscription at the bottom to confirm.
You keep paid features until the end of the billing period. Any discount on your plan ends when you cancel, and the account itself stays, with your channels and settings.
Get the cancellation in writing
Restream's terms of service (section 4.2.2) describe a different route from the help article: you cancel by contacting Restream through the chat button in your account, or by emailing billing@restream.io from the address you log in with. The terms add that a notice from another address may be accepted as a courtesy, but the ticket is what officially ends the account.
So after you click Cancel, send a short chat message or email saying you have cancelled, from your account's email address, and save the reply. If a charge shows up later, that record is what gets it reversed.
Restream's refund rules
- 7-day money-back guarantee, first purchase only. Cancel within 7 calendar days of your first purchase, then ask support (the Need Help button) or email billing@restream.io.
- Upgrades are not covered. Moving from one paid plan to another doesn't count as a first-time subscription.
- Auto-renewals are not covered. A renewal charge, monthly or annual, is outside the guarantee.
- Refunds take 5 to 10 business days to appear, depending on your bank.
What reviewers ran into
“I canceled my subscription on the same day I was charged, and Restream still refuses to refund me. Instead of giving my money back, they offered me “Restream credit” to use in the future…”Ulises Abogados SPA, Trustpilot, May 2025
“I enjoy the product. But I had a terrible time dealing with customer service. No reminder before recharging for a year.”Lawrence L., Capterra, August 2023
Both cases match the policy as written: a renewal charge falls outside the 7-day guarantee. To avoid it, cancel before the renewal date.
How to avoid an unwanted renewal
- Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you subscribe, a week early for annual plans.
- Start on monthly billing until you know you'll use it; annual saves 20% but renews for a full year.
- If you only need two channels, the Free plan never charges you.
If you were charged after cancelling
Email billing@restream.io from your account address with the cancellation date and your proof. If that doesn't resolve it, your card issuer can dispute the charge. In California, the Automatic Renewal Law (Business and Professions Code section 17600 and following) requires subscriptions sold online to be cancellable online; residents there can cite it. This is general information, not legal advice.

Cancelling Restream FAQ
How do I cancel my Restream subscription?+
Go to Settings, then Billing, click Cancel subscription, pick a reason, and confirm. Restream's terms also accept a cancellation through the in-app chat or an email to billing@restream.io from your account email, so send one of those too and keep the reply.
Does Restream give refunds?+
Only inside its 7-day money-back guarantee: first-time subscribers who cancel within 7 calendar days of their first purchase. Upgrades and auto-renewals are not covered, and other paid time is non-refundable.
Will I lose access as soon as I cancel?+
No. Restream says you keep paid features until the end of the billing period, then the account drops to the free plan. Your channels and settings stay in place.
Does cancelling delete my Restream account?+
No. Cancelling stops the paid plan only. Restream's help article on cancelling does not cover account deletion, so ask support in the chat if you want the account removed.
Restream charged me after I cancelled. What can I do?+
Contact billing@restream.io from your account email with the date you cancelled and any confirmation. If that fails, your card issuer can open a dispute; keep screenshots of the cancellation and the chat.
